How to Travel With Children to Vancouver For 2010

SOMETHING FISHY - The Vancouver Aquarium is a fantastic activity to while away the time between sporting events. This acclaimed aquarium is home to a host of colourful, interesting and even comical marine residents, including the playful otters, unique white-sided dolphins and the impressive sea lions. The aquarium is situated in Stanley Park which is an attraction in its own right. Children and youths pay a decreased fee to enter.

SCIENCE LAB - A trip to the fascinating Science World will entertain the whole family for hours. Parents will find themselves just as enthralled with the technology, products and wonders as even the most skeptical of children. There are several different galleries. These include a dedicated "Kidspace" designed for children between 2 and 6 years of age, using water, light and colour to entice them into the world of science.

A tour includes an OMNIMAX film, which could be on art, animals, technology, music; the list continues. Discounted fees for families (2 parents and 4 children) and children are offered.

BEACH BABES - The beautiful Vancouver beaches lure locals and tourists alike. Playing sports on the white sand or enjoying a family picnic on the shore is a relaxing solution to spare time. Jericho, Spanish and Stanley beaches are all inviting and Canada urges its visitors to sample some of its best sandy offerings.

A-SLIPPING AND A-SLIDING - Water parks are always a hit amongst children of all ages, and there are a range of choices in the Lower Mainland.  The Bridal Falls Water Park boasts 10 slides, all heated for optimal comfort even as Canada starts to cool down. The Cultus Lake Water Park is noted for its night sliding, and 72-foot ride. Splashdown Park is another favourite amongst locals and visitors.

LIKE TO HIKE - Hiking is a superb way to spend time together as a family and to burn off some of the energy that children never seem to lack. Vancouver is surrounded by rolling hills and lush valleys, ideal for day hikes, professional trails and casual walkabouts. The Pacific Regional Park (probably better suited to families with children), Dog Mountain and Lions offer different terrains for different calibres of hikers.

Of course, Vancouver has a wealth of other attractions that beckon both children and their guardians. These act as the ideal compliment to round off a memorable trip to the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in British Columbia.
